Medication Support for Substance Use & Recovery

Substance use concerns can affect mental health, relationships, work, school, physical health, and daily functioning. At Elevate Mental Wellness, we provide supportive, nonjudgmental care for clients who are seeking help with substance use, recovery, relapse prevention, cravings, or co-occurring mental health symptoms.

Our approach is collaborative and individualized. We take time to understand each client’s history, current substance use concerns, mental health symptoms, treatment goals, safety needs, and previous experiences with care. When clinically appropriate, medication-assisted treatment may be included as part of a broader recovery plan.

  • We work with clients who are seeking support for opioid use concerns, alcohol use concerns, cravings, relapse prevention, recovery maintenance, and co-occurring mental health conditions. Many clients experience substance use alongside anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, bipolar disorder, sleep concerns, or other psychiatric symptoms.

We also support clients who are unsure what level of care they need and want a thoughtful evaluation before deciding on next steps. If a client needs detoxification, residential treatment, intensive outpatient treatment, or another higher level of care, our team can help discuss appropriate referrals and coordinate care when needed.

  • Medication-assisted treatment may include medications that help reduce cravings, support recovery, and lower the risk of relapse when clinically appropriate. At Elevate Mental Wellness, treatment options may include:

    Suboxone
    Sublocade
    Brixadi
    Vivitrol

We do not provide methadone treatment. If methadone is clinically indicated, we can help discuss referral options to an appropriate opioid treatment program.

Our Approach to MAT

Nonjudgmental Care

We understand that substance use concerns are complex and deeply personal. Our goal is to provide care that is respectful, realistic, and focused on safety, stability, and progress.

Evidence-Based Medication Support

Medication-assisted treatment can be an important tool for recovery. Our providers evaluate each client’s history, symptoms, cravings, substance use patterns, medical considerations, safety needs, and goals before making treatment recommendations.

Therapy and Recovery Support

Medication is only one part of treatment. Our therapists can support clients in addressing patterns of use, emotional triggers, trauma, stress, relationships, coping skills, relapse prevention, and the mental health symptoms that often occur alongside substance use.

Ongoing Monitoring

Mental health needs can change over time. Follow-up appointments allow your provider to assess progress, adjust medications when needed, monitor side effects, and help ensure treatment remains appropriate.

Support for Co-Occurring Mental Health Needs

Substance use and mental health symptoms often overlap. We evaluate and treat co-occurring concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, mood instability, ADHD, sleep issues, and other psychiatric symptoms when appropriate.

Collaborative Recovery Planning

Recovery looks different for every person. We work with clients to identify goals, reduce barriers, monitor progress, address setbacks, and build a treatment plan that supports long-term stability.

When a Higher Level of Care May Be Needed

Some clients may need services beyond outpatient medication management, therapy, or recovery support. This may include detoxification, intensive outpatient treatment, residential treatment, emergency care, or another structured level of support. If that is the case, our team can help discuss next steps and coordinate care with our community partners when appropriate.

What to Expect During Treatment

  • Initial Appointment

During the first appointment, your provider will complete a detailed assessment. This may include reviewing substance use history, current symptoms, cravings, withdrawal history, prior treatment, medical history, medications, mental health history, safety concerns, support systems, and recovery goals.

Your provider will also discuss whether medication-assisted treatment may be clinically appropriate and whether therapy, case management, or additional services may be helpful.

  • Follow-Up Appointments

Follow-up visits are used to monitor progress, review cravings or relapse concerns, assess medication response when applicable, address side effects, update the recovery plan, and support ongoing mental health needs. These appointments also provide space to discuss barriers, setbacks, and changes in treatment goals

  • Therapy as Part of Treatment

Our therapists can provide additional support for clients working through substance use concerns and recovery. Therapy may focus on coping skills, relapse prevention, emotional regulation, trauma, stress, family or relationship concerns, and building healthier routines. For many clients, combining medication support with therapy creates a more stable and comprehensive treatment plan.
